Mercedes debuts its first fully electric semi truck in Europe
It may be a little different from the semi-tracks you’re used to here, but it can be a big problem for European trucks. Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz We have been enthusiastic about developing electric heavy trucks in the hope that it will usher in a new era of trucking (at least in Europe). The truck, called the eActros, was the first electric truck to be equipped with a three-star, the company announced on Wednesday.
Of course not First heavy electric truck From Mercedes’ parent company Daimler. That honor is Freight liner eCascadia and eM2.. Still, the eActros looks pretty impressive thanks to the 249 mile range. The range may not seem so great to those familiar with it. Tesla It’s terribly good for something whose range is as big as a semi-track. That range is possible thanks to eActros’ huge 420kWh battery pack, which claims that Mercedes can charge quickly from 20% to 80% in an hour.
This kind of turnaround can be essential when trying to convince a company to adopt new technology when the time comes. eActros is also available in smaller battery pack sizes for types of operations where maximum range is less important. Mercedes offers a range of support services to help these companies move their vehicles to electric vehicles as part of their push to get them to adopt trucks. These services include consulting to help set up the charging infrastructure and the planning needed to get the most out of each truck, as you won’t make money if you’re not driving.
I will. Mercedes will launch eActros this fall and will be available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. It hasn’t yet been announced if it will come to the state side, but given Freightliner’s work here, we doubt it.
