Truth behind ‘bloody horror scene’ on highway
It was a horror scene of epic proportions.
A semi-trailer and another truck were in pieces across a busy motorway with ‘blood’ smeared across the road.
Shocked passers-by couldn’t believe what they were witnessing.
The good news is that one of the drivers escaped without injury and the other, despite being taken to hospital, only sustained minor injuries.
This all played out on the A14 in Godmanchester in the UK.
While many drivers were shaken by the blood-like appearance on the roadway Cambridgeshire Police were quick to reassure locals.
“What looked like the set of a horror film was actually thousands of squashed tomatoes… including one (truck) carrying tons of olive oil.” they posted on Twitter.
The response on social media was quick and hilarious.
“Just needs a lorry load of mozzarella and basil for the world’s biggest caprese salad…” said one.
“Police release extra statement when asked about state of road. It contained one word. Delicious.” said another.
“I went pasta that. Took a while for the traffic to ketchup.” was the most liked comment in the Twitter comments.
The road had to be resurfaced, many saying that was because the tomato juice is acidic along with the oil mixing with the tar.
Perhaps they could replace the road with a pizza base?
