Multiple people injured in M25 crash involving 3 vans and a lorry

Essex Police confirmed that there were multiple injuries following a crash which shut the M25 near Waltham Abbey, Essex earlier this afternoon (Tuesday, June 1).

A major crash briefly shut the M25[1] in both directions between junction 26 for Enfield and junction 27 for the M11.

There were long delays in both directions, and all emergency services were in attendance.

Officers have now confirmed that they are appealing for information in relation to the accident following the injuries of multiple motorists.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We received reports of a collision on the M25[2] around 2.50pm this afternoon (Tuesday, June 1).

“The collision, which involved three vehicles, occurred between Junction 26 and Junction 27 of the anti-clockwise carriageway.

“The occupants received minor injuries.

“Both carriageways were closed while we investigated but have since reopened.

Fire crews were also at the scene.

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision on the M25[5] between junction 26 and 27.

“The collision involved three vans and one lorry.

“Fire crews worked with paramedics to help rescue one casualty trapped in their vehicle.

“The casualty was released by 4:15pm and left in the care of the Ambulance Service.

“The M25 was temporarily shut while firefighters and paramedics were at the scene.”

The East of England Ambulance Service were also approached for comment.

Lanes are now slowly reopening, but heavy queues remain.

Highways England tweeted: “#M25 J26 to J27 – the clockwise carriageway has re-opened with a lane 4 closure in place, the anti-clockwise has a lanes 4 and 3 closure in place with trapped traffic flowing past.

“The full closure at J27 anti-clockwise will be removed shortly.”
