LIVE: Car fire on M6 in Cheshire

A car fire has broken out on the M6 in Cheshire[1].

Two lanes are now closed Southbound between Junction 19 ( Knutsford[2] ) and Junction 18 ( Middlewich[3] /Holmes Chapel).

It was first reported by Inrix and Highways England that a lorry was ablaze, but a further update has clarified it is in fact a car.

Lanes one and two of four are now closed, with traffic building in the area.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service[4] are currently making their way to the scene.

The incident was first reported at 9.30am on traffic monitoring site, Inrix.

All the relevant emergency services have been contacted for information.
