Buses are being rerouted for weeks due to major works on busy Salford road

Buses have had to change their routes due to the major road works on the A6 Chorley Road in Swinton. TfGM and bus operator Diamond Bus Northwest have announced new routes for services that pass through the works taking place around Swinton Town Centre, starting from today. According to TfGM the works have caused extremely long delays.

The number 66 and 73 will all be affected starting from today (Thursday). The major gas replacement works will be going on for up to 10 weeks and buses will be rerouted until the work is finished. The 27 and 79 will see no changes for the time being, but their routes are expected to change from the 17th February when the left filter lane from Station Road joining the A6 will close.

The work is taking place close to Swinton Civic Hall

The 36, 37 and X39 will see no changes as a detour from their usual routes will see them miss out a large number of stops.

According to Diamond Buses, they will be monitored and managed through GPS tracking, and during the morning peak period a Diamond inspector will be based in Swinton helping with service regulation. The revised 66 route will omit Station Road, Mossfield Road and all Clifton Green stops and will run its normal route to Chorley Road from Eccles then terminate outside Swinton Library. The service will then depart from the last stop on Station Road fronting the entrance to Swinton Precinct.
